Suraasa and DSB International School Inaugurate Teacher Development Centre in Mumbai
Celebrating Everyday Actions that Build Belonging at DSB International School
On March 21, 2026, Suraasa and DSB International School officially launched a Teacher Development Centre (TDC) at the school's campus in Lower Parel, Mumbai. The inauguration brought together DSB's school leadership and Suraasa's team to mark the opening of the centre, which will train teachers from across Mumbai through an internationally accredited blended program.
The inauguration
The event began with guests gathering outside the TDC space, where DSB Principal Mr. Howard Gee and Dr. Kavitha Jain, Suraasa's Head of Global Partnerships, led the ribbon cutting ceremony followed by a picture of the leaders with the logo of the centre.
The event moved into a series of addresses from both DSB and Suraasa's leadership, followed by a detailed walkthrough of the program structure by Suraasa's team.
What the TDC will offer
The centre will run Suraasa's flagship program, the Professional Graduate Certificate in Teaching & Learning (PgCTL), in a blended format. Teachers enrolled in the program will learn through self-paced online modules, live virtual classes from international educators based in the US, UK, UAE, and Lebanon, and monthly in-person sessions at DSB's campus. They will also get the opportunity to observe and deliver classes in DSB's working classrooms.
On completion, teachers earn two globally recognized credentials: the PgCTL and the UK Level 6 Diploma in Teaching, regulated by Ofqual.
The program is open to qualified teachers from any school in Mumbai and surrounding areas. Interested teachers can learn more and register here
In their own words
Mr. Howard Gee, Principal of DSB International School, spoke about the school's commitment to supporting the next generation of educators.
"For the love of teaching is something which is very meaningful to all of us here. It is very, very important that all of us as professionals give back to a profession which has treated us very well. I think it is our professional responsibility to support new teachers into our curriculum or new teachers into the profession. This country is a huge talent pool and what we want are people ready for teaching in an international context. You will authentically get that if you have the opportunity to spend time working or interning at DSB. We are very committed to this. We really look forward to welcoming training teachers with Suraasa coming into our classrooms and getting the sort of experience that 30 years ago I had."

Dr. Kavitha Jain, Head of Global Partnerships at Suraasa, spoke about why the TDC model matters and what it means for teachers.
"In my professional life, I've set up over a hundred schools, and there's one common challenge: schools find a shortage of qualified, skilled, and experienced teachers. The objective of Suraasa is to bring back the love for teaching and give teachers the toolkit they need for today's classrooms. While we have been delivering this program purely online to over 500,000 teachers, this is the first time we decided to launch something in a hybrid model. In this program, when teachers come to campus, they get practical learning time and time in the classroom. The DSB team is super excited to have these teachers in their classrooms to give them a full-grade experience."
