  • How can I be sure that DSB International School is the right choice for my child?

    DSB International School is the right choice for your child if you are looking for a small school that values the whole child and a strong sense of community.   We are a school that encourages independent learners who are intrinsically motivated to excel.  We support children and families who believe that excellence in academics is not enough, and that every child should be happy and confident in order to continue to succeed into adulthood.

  • What kind of students attend DSB International School?

    DSB students are bright, motivated, independent learners. They come from 30 different countries, including India.

  • Are local Mumbai families eligible to apply to DSB International School?

    Yes, DSB International School accepts applicants of any nationality.

  • In what parts of Mumbai do most of the families live?

    The school is located in the Breach Candy and Babulnath neighborhoods, making us a very convenient choice for families living in Malabar Hill, Nepean Sea Road, Breach Candy, Peddar Road, Altamount Road and Carmichael Road. Our bus service also covers Parel, Prabhadevi and Bandra West as well as Colaba and Cuffe Parade.

  • Does the IB diploma allow my child to study in Europe or elsewhere in the world?

    The IB Diploma is widely recognised all over the world, and in India. Some American universities will offer first year credit in some courses against good IB Diploma scores.

     

     

  • Does the IB diploma allow my child to study at an Indian university?

    Yes, many Indian universities accept the IB Diploma from candidates.

     

  • If we have siblings at both DSB campuses, how do we arrange after-school pick-up?

    For families with children in both campuses, we arrange a bus to drop Upper Primary students to Garden Campus to coincide with the end of the day at Garden Campus.  For Secondary students with siblings at Garden Campus, the end of the day is timed to allow parents to collect the younger child and arrive at Aurum House in time to pick up the older child.

  • What is the eligible age for the school bus service?

    The school bus is available to all students of DSB International School, but we are unable to offer an end-of-day bus for Kindergarten and Reception children.

  • How far are the two DSB campuses from each other?

    The two DSB International School campuses are located quite close to each other in the adjacent neighborhoods of Breach Candy and Babulnath. Without traffic, the journey between the two campuses is less than 10 minutes.

  • Can my child join DSB in the middle of the school year?

    Yes, DSB accepts new students througout the school year.

  • How do I know which class my child is eligible to enter?

    DSB International School offers the National Curriculum of England and the German Curriculum of the State of Thüringen. To see the description of the Year Groups, click here. Our cut-off date is August 1st.

  • Does DSB have a school uniform?

    No, DSB does not have a school uniform. We do have a school sports shirt which we encourage all students to wear for their sports lessons.

  • What level of English fluency should my child have at the time of admission?

    English fluency is not required to enter DSB International School. We accept students of all levels of English. The school will provide support in English language acquisition. For the exam cohorts, we strongly advise families to consider English lessons in addition to school to support their child through board examinations in English.

  • What are the lunch facilities at DSB?

    DSB International School is a small school, with limited facilities. Garden Campus has no lunch provision - children bring their snack and lunch from home. Aurum House has a small tuck shop that sells sandwhiches and snacks, but students are encouraged to bring food from home.

  • How can parents become involved in the school community?

    DSB International School welcomes any support from the families of our students. Our Friends Committee coordinates parent representatives for each class and organises events both in school and out to support the school and help families get to know each other.

  • What is the admission procedure for DSB?

    Once a completed application is received, candidates are invited to visit for Entry Assessments or Tests. Successful candidates will be invited for an interview with our Principal.  We welcome any prospective pupil who would like to visit the school for a day and any family that would like to schedule a tour of the school. Visits and tours can be arranged before an application is submitted.

  • How easy is it for a student to transfer from DSB to a new school?

    DSB students have successfully transferred to schools all over the world. Students of the German Section are assured that our programme aligns with the German Schools Abroad and students return to Germany with no gaps in their education. The English National Curriculum aligns very well with other curricula, such as the IPC. DSB students have gained admission to British schools such as Wellington College, Marlborough College and The United World College, Cardiff.
