Year 2 developed their work on their Topic about the Great Fire of London by visiting a Londoner who can still remember it (some say!) They had a marvellous time learning about fire and Fire Safety and got to test to see which things burn. They were very surprised to discover all sorts of things can burn including sugar and metal and learnt that we must not always use water to put out a fire. They were introduced to the fire triangle and will learn more about this to help them understand how the Great Fire was finally extinguished. This was their first experience in a proper Science Laboratory and they really impressed Dr Howard by all they knew, by their intelligent questions and answers, and by the careful and sensible way they worked safely in the Lab.
Science lab classes are not part of the primary science curriculum. However, wher useful, students may sometimes visit the labs for special activities.
