Throughout the year we have several groups of visitors at the school. These will either be students from other international schools, local or international artists, such as the German Choir who visited us for a special interactive day and performance.
We also partner with various local organizations to promote an understanding of the local communities and sense of social responsibility. One such organization is the Akanksha Foundation, an NGO whose mission is to provide educational opportunities for less-privileged
children. See the box below.
Akanksha centres exist because Akanksha believes that in order to get a meaningful education, children need a different kind of learning experience than what the formal school system provides. Akanksha attempts to bridge this gap by bringing together under utilized office spaces, the potential in children, and volunteers. Bring together these resources and you have a simple, effective way to impact the lives of less privileged children.
When the children arrived to our school they were wearing their name tags made by us. We greeted them in the garden, took our groups and led them to the activities. We played games like bowling, tail-tag, football, hand-print, parachute and obstacle course and many more. The children got along very well and we made new friends and had a great day! After the exciting games we went to the Aula where we sang songs together. We gave them gifts, collected by the students of DSB.
